An era of shared car bodies and owned AI steering wheels

Jaguar's vision for the era beyond 2040 was presented in a concept model named "Future Type."

The Future Type is a fully autonomous concept car that can be summoned on demand in a fully charged EV state. Jaguar predicts that in the future, cars will be primarily shared rather than owned. Therefore, with the "Future Type," one would own only the steering wheel, with the car body itself being shareable.

The key feature is its connected technologyIntelligent Steering Wheel "Sayer"The "Sayer" is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) that operates by voice. Beyond its function as a steering wheel, it assists with news delivery and travel planning. Furthermore, it can monitor refrigerator contents, manage grocery purchases, and even order pizza.

Additionally, if you have a meeting at 8 AM the next day at a location two hours from home, you can simply instruct "Sayer" while relaxing in your living room, and the car will arrive automatically at your doorstep by the departure time. It will then navigate the most efficient route to your destination. Of course, if you wish to enjoy driving yourself, there is also an option for assisted driving instead of full autonomy.

The seats are a 2+1 semi-tandem type. In autonomous driving mode, they become social seats facing each other, allowing for communication during the journey.

Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum commented, "The Future Type is an example of our vision to remain a compelling brand in an era of increasing digitalization and autonomous driving."
