Over 60% of Sales to be EVs, PHEVs by 2025
At the IAA 2017, to be held in Frankfurt in mid-September, Honda will give the world premiere to the "Urban EV Concept," a concept model that signals the direction of its future production EVs.
In response to declarations by Germany and France to "end sales of internal combustion engine cars by 2030," Honda has set a goal to electrify two-thirds of its European four-wheel vehicle lineup sales by 2025, five years ahead of schedule. Specifically, this involves promoting fuel cells, electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and hybridization, with the concept car serving as a precursor to these efforts.
What has been revealed so far about the "Urban EV Concept" is only the glowing Honda badge on what appears to be the front grille and a display indicating the charging status. The full picture of what kind of EV Honda aims to create will be unveiled on September 12.
In addition, Honda will exhibit the European prototype of the "CR-V Hybrid" and the diesel model of the "Civic Hatchback."
