Maximum Range: 483km

The Model S is a four-door sedan EV powered by a motor driven by a 42kWh lithium-ion battery. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 193 km/h. It can travel up to 483 km on a single charge.

Charging time is often cited as a drawback for EVs, but astonishingly, the Model S can achieve a full charge in just 45 minutes for this range. Compared to other EVs, theNissan Leafhas a maximum range of 200 km and requires over 30 minutes for charging. The "Honda Fit EV Concept," unveiled at last year's LA Auto Show, takes 6 hours for 160 km. The concept study model "Honda Fit EV Concept" takes 6 hours for 160 km. The concept study model "Audi R8 e-tron" offers 250 km in 6-8 hours. While the measurement standards may differ, it is clear that its fuel efficiency is exceptionally high. Specifications for other powertrains have not yet been released.

Available in "Signature" and Lower-Trim "Standard" Models

Another appealing feature of the Model S is its capacity to seat up to five adults and two children. When images were first released in 2009, it was specified with a length of 4,980 mm and a vehicle weight of 1,735 kg.

The Japanese market model will feature the aforementioned specifications and extensive customization options. Production of the "Signature" left-hand drive version will begin in early 2013 as a limited run of 250 units. Production of right-hand drive models will commence thereafter. A lower-trim "Standard" model with a maximum range of 255 km will also be offered, with production slated to start in mid-2013. While pricing is said to start at $57,400 (approximately ¥4.6 million), the Japanese sales price has not yet been determined. A deposit is required for reservations: ¥3.5 million for the Signature and ¥500,000 for the Standard. These reservation fees are fully refundable even if the reservation is cancelled.

The Model S, which has already received over 4,000 reservations worldwide, began deliveries in the United States in 2012, producing 5,000 units that year and aiming for 20,000 units in 2013.
