Functional Features and Ample Space

The Kangoo Maxi is the largest model in the Kangoo series, extending the length and wheelbase of the Kangoo Express, the commercial vehicle variant, by 384mm. This is a larger, Maxi version of the Kangoo Z.E. revealed last year at the Hanover Motor Show in Germany. It is available in two types: a single-row seat configuration (seating for 2) and a dual-row seat configuration (seating for 5), each offered in nine color variations.

The luggage space, a key appeal of the Kangoo series, offers a vast area of 4.6 square meters in the single-row seat type, boasting top-class cargo capacity among competing zero-emission vehicles. In the dual-row seat type, the rear bench seat can be folded flat into the floor, expanding the space to 3.4 square meters. Furthermore, thanks to the long wheelbase, it can accommodate long items up to 2,900mm, making it even more versatile.



For its powertrain, it employs a motor called a Synchronous electric motor, producing a maximum output of 44kW and a maximum torque of 226Nm. The cruising range on a single charge is up to 170km, with a top speed of 130km/h. The installed lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 22kWh, and a full charge takes 6 to 8 hours. The cost per charge is emphasized as being very economical, averaging around 1.5 yen. The interior has also been improved with the addition of an MMI (Man Machine Interface) display on the dashboard, showing information such as battery level and remaining driving range.

Sales in Europe are scheduled to begin around autumn 2011, catering to various needs. Orders will also be accepted via the website (www.renault-ze.com) starting March 1, 2011.
