The Ever-Expanding 500 Family
Fiat announced that it will unveil the Abarth "595 50° Anniversario," a limited edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Abarth "595" which debuted at the Turin Motor Show in September 1963. Concurrently, Fiat will introduce the 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir engine, previously featured in the Fiat "500L," to the Fiat "500" series, with sales commencing at the end of the year.
A Homage to the Legendary Abarth 595: Only 299 Units for Sale
The limited edition Abarth "595 50° Anniversario," released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Abarth 595's debut, is a strictly limited production model with only 299 units available. Designed to be the most powerful Abarth to date, it is equipped with a 180HP 1.4 T-Jet engine (132kW) and paired with a 5-speed "Abarth Competizione" sequential gearbox with AT mode. This powertrain is essentially the same as that found in the previously released limited models,Abarth "695 Tributo Ferrari" andAbarth "695 Edizione Maserati".
While the Abarth "595 50° Anniversario" draws inspiration from the original Abarth "595," its color scheme and graphics have been reinterpreted and modernized. However, the stripe colors on the body sides and the historical Abarth logos are reproduced with remarkable fidelity, featuring a matte tri-coat white paint finish. These elements are handcrafted by customization artists at Officine Abarth in Turin.
The interior is highlighted by the "50th Anniversary Sport Style Seats." These genuine leather sport seats, featuring a striking contrast of white and red coordinated with the dashboard, have the "595" logo embroidered on the headrests. The black leather steering wheel is adorned with red accents, a center position mark inspired by the Italian flag, and an Abarth emblem. Additionally, the aluminum brake pedals also feature the Abarth mark.
The wheels are 17-inch alloy wheels in a "695 Magnesio" design, primarily bright gray with red stripes. The braking system utilizes Brembo 4-piston calipers paired with 305mm rotors. The engine delivers a captivating sound above 3,000 rpm, with the ability to switch between "Record Monza" and "Dual Mode" exhaust sounds at the touch of a button.
In conjunction with the launch of this model, a range of accessories will also be available. The lineup includes fashion items such as sunglasses and watches from the "BRM" brand, as well as genuine leather briefcases from "Tramontano," a Naples-based company.
The "105 HP 0.9 TwinAir" Engine Now in the Fiat "500"
The 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir engine, currently featured in the four-door Fiat "500L," will be adopted for the Fiat "500." Similar to the 500L, it will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, delivering a maximum output of 105ps (77kW) at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 145Nm (14.7kgm) at 2,000 rpm. A key feature is its everyday usability, with over 80 percent of the maximum torque available from as low as 1,750 rpm.
Equipped with a Start & Stop system, the 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir boasts CO2 emissions of 99g/km and an impressive fuel economy of 4.2ℓ/100 km (23.8km/ℓ).
