BMW has released a teaser movie for the "i8", a plug-in hybrid sports model that will have its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013, which begins with a press day on September 10th.


i8 SpecificationsThe body, which is said to weigh no more than 1,490 kg, features a monocoque made of CFRP, similar to the " which had its world premiere earlier.i3

The powertrain is a plug-in hybrid, with an electric motor producing a maximum output of 96 kW (131 hp) at the front and a 1.5-liter three-cylinder twin-power turbo engine producing a maximum output of 170 kW (231 hp) at the rear. The acceleration provided by the motor is high, with 0 to 100 km/h reportedly taking just 4.5 seconds or less. The top speed is 250 km/h.


The video released this time allows a fleeting glimpse of parts of the previously camouflaged exterior, such as the mirrors, headlights, taillights, and how the doors open.


Everything will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
