A Special Body, Low and Wide, with the Heart of the RCZ R

At the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013, opening in September, Peugeot will unveil the "308 R Concept," the top-tier sports model of the new "308."

The engine is adopted from the "RCZ R", producing a maximum output of 270ps/6,000rpm and a peak torque of 330Nm/1,900-5,500rpm from its 1,598cc inline-4 twin-scroll turbo engine. Befitting this significant power, the brakes feature 380x32mm discs at the front and 330x22mm discs at the rear, both with 4-piston calipers, and are fitted with wide 235/35R19 tires. The transmission is a 6-speed manual.

While retaining the design of the new "308," the body proportions are 30mm wider and 26mm lower. With the exception of the roof and tailgate, all panels are original. The doors, body sides, sills, bonnet, and bumpers are made of carbon fiber protected by metal. The headlights feature the new full-LED units newly adopted for the new 308.

The striking color scheme of fluorescent red and blue-black, with a diagonal dividing line on the rear half of the body, is said to be inspired by the "Onyx Concept".

The 308 R Concept, with its sports-tuned 308 R Concept delivering approximately 170ps per liter of displacement, also boasts environmental performance with CO2 emissions of just 145g/km and fuel economy of 6.3ℓ/100km (approximately 15.9km/ℓ).
