The Convertible Arrives Swiftly

The Chevrolet "Corvette Stingray," which revived the traditional "Stingray" name and debuted as the seventh-generation model in January, has now been joined by the "Corvette Stingray Convertible." Like its predecessors, which have continued since 1953, this new model also features a soft top.
The newly developed fully automatic opening and closing system allows the top to be operated while driving at speeds below 50 km/h. It can also be controlled remotely using only the key.

The design remains largely unchanged, as the basic architecture was developed with the convertible in mind. In fact, the convertible version arguably enhances the American sports car aesthetic, characterized by its long hood and short deck.

The powertrain is fundamentally the same as the coupe model. The LT1 6.2-liter V8 engine is mounted in the front-mid position, delivering a maximum output of 335 kW (450 hp) and a peak torque of 610 Nm (62.2 kgm). Despite the added weight from the convertible top, the car achieves an ideal 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution for a sports car. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the latter half of 2013.
