Celebrating Aston Martin's Centenary
Bertone's first involvement with an Aston Martin car was in 1953, when they built a one-off model based on the DB2/4. This year marks the 60th anniversary of that collaboration. Aston Martin itself, meanwhile, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
To commemorate both milestones, Bertone presented the Aston Martin Rapide Bertone, their interpretation of the Aston Martin Rapide. The 83rd Geneva Motor ShowIt was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2013.
This one-off model is a shooting brake, meaning the hatchback Rapide has been converted into a wagon body. The mechanical components of the base Rapide remain untouched, including the 6-liter V12 engine that produces a maximum output of 476ps. According to Bertone, the car was commissioned by an Aston Martin collector, who collaborated on the entire project, including the interior.
Alongside the Aston Martin Rapide Bertone, Bertone also exhibited the Aston Martin Jet 2, created in 2004 with a similar concept based on the Vanquish. The exhibited model was reportedly built for Lilli Bertone, the president of Bertone.
