A Total of 10 Vehicles on Display, from Compact SUVs to the Pajero, Celebrating its 30th Anniversary
The demand for SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) is currently growing in the Chinese market. In response, Mitsubishi Motors has announced that it will begin local production of the compact SUV ASX (RVR in Japan) within the year, focusing on strengthening its SUV lineup.
The all-new Outlander, making its highly anticipated "Asian debut," is an eco-conscious new-generation SUV boasting class-leading fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions. It is equipped with newly developed 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter 4-cylinder SOHC engines featuring variable valve timing. By making the body lighter and improving aerodynamic performance, it achieves excellent environmental performance.
The all-new Outlander also excels in safety, featuring a brake system that detects the vehicle ahead and automatically applies brakes to avoid a collision, as well as supporting damage mitigation. Sales are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2012. Following its launch in Russia, it will be rolled out globally to Europe, Japan, China, Oceania, and North America.
At the New International Exhibition Center, the venue for the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, Mitsubishi Motors will also exhibit a total of 10 vehicles, including a new model of the "ASX" with minor exterior changes, the "Pajero" – the "all-round" SUV celebrating its 30th anniversary this year – and the "Pajero Sport," which went on sale in China last year.
