American Version of XV Debuts in Frankfurt

The stylish SUV "XV," equipped with a new generation 1.6-liter or 2.0-liter horizontally opposed engine, which was unveiled in Frankfurt last September, will be presented in its American specification as the "XV Crosstrek." This 4WD SUV boasts a ground clearance of 8.7 inches (approx. 22.1 cm) while achieving impressive fuel efficiency of 33 MPG (approx. 14 km/L). It will be available in two grades: the basic Premium and the Limited, which comes equipped with extensive infotainment features.

"The Car That Avoids Collisions" Debuts in the North American Market

Meanwhile, the changes for the "Legacy" and its SUV counterpart, the "Outback," mark their 2013 model year. Beyond revisions to the exterior and interior, the engine and transmission have also been completely updated, signifying a substantial overhaul rather than a typical model year minor change.

The exterior features redesigned front grilles and bumpers, while the interior incorporates wood trim, aiming to express both sportiness and a premium feel. In terms of driving performance, the new generation Boxer engine and a new CVT adopted from the Impreza contribute to improved fuel economy. Furthermore, suspension enhancements have been made to elevate driving enjoyment. For safety, Subaru is introducing EyeSight for the first time in the North American market. This system supports safe driving through technology, including pre-collision braking that automatically stops the vehicle before an impact, acceleration suppression control for ATs that prevents unintended acceleration when an obstacle is in front, and adaptive cruise control with full-speed range tracking for traffic jams and slow-speed driving.
