Like a Motorcycle
With the Geneva Motor Show just a day away, the Volkswagen Group held its customary pre-show reception. This event offers a chance to get a closer look at some of the models that will be announced at the show.
It was here that Lamborghini revealed the Aventador J. The driver of the Aventador, which emerged from the wings of the stage, was wearing a full-face helmet. This was not for show; the Aventador J has no roof and no windshield. Imagine the stones that could fly when unleashing the 700ps 6.5-liter V12 engine...
As company CEO Stephan Winkelmann stated later when he appeared on stage, "It's like a motorcycle." A full-face helmet is indeed essential for the Aventador J.
This model requires further explanation. It's not a concept car; it is, in fact, for sale. However, it is a one-off, and a buyer has already been found.
Incidentally, the "J" at the end of the model name comes from "Appendix J" of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) International Sporting Code. While this is a regulation for vehicle classification, the naming is somewhat convoluted because the Aventador J was not built in accordance with "Appendix J." It's a nod to the "J (Iota)" that was previously produced to comply with this rule. Come to think of it, the Iota was also a "legendary phantom car" made only once.
