Enhanced Performance, Improved Fuel Economy
The Phantom, which debuted in 2003 as the flagship model of the new Rolls-Royce, has been well-received in luxury car markets worldwide, subsequently expanding its lineup with the Phantom Coupé grand tourer and the Phantom Drophead Coupé convertible. Now, the Phantom family has been comprehensively updated and evolved into Series II, set to be unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show.
Rolls-Royce has outlined three key themes for this update: 1) Further pursuit of a design that is both contemporary and timeless, 2) Introduction of the latest technology to enhance usability and connectivity, and 3) Strengthening of the drivetrain.
In terms of design, the front end has been refreshed with a revised bumper design and the adoption of LED headlights. Notably, this is the first production car to feature full LED headlights as standard equipment.
Regarding the second point, a new multimedia controller has been adopted as a new user interface. Various information, maps, and videos are displayed on the enlarged 9.8-inch Control Centre Display, and the bookmark buttons on this display allow access to various functions.
The drivetrain now features a new 8-speed automatic transmission. While further enhancing performance, fuel economy has improved by 10% in combined mode, and CO2 emissions have been reduced from 388g/km to 347g/km.
