Design Upgraded, Digital Interface Renewed

The Cullinan, Rolls-Royce's first SUV, was born in 2018. In May of this year, the significantly updated "Cullinan Series II" was announced, and it has now made its debut in Japan.
The arrival of the Cullinan succeeded in attracting a new customer base to Rolls-Royce. While around 70% of Cullinan owners drove themselves when the car first launched in 2018, now, almost all owners drive their Cullinan themselves, with fewer than 10% utilizing a chauffeur. The average age of customers has also significantly decreased from 56 in 2010 to 43 today.
Therefore, this major facelift faithfully inherits the essential elements of the Cullinan, such as the "Magic Carpet Ride," while also reflecting the evolving codes of luxury and driver usage patterns, according to the company.
Perhaps the most significant changes are the upgraded design and the refreshed digital interface and apps.
The exterior features new daytime running lights, with a graphical and vertical design that makes it easily identifiable as a Series II, day or night.
The illuminated Pantheon grille is central to the exterior design. This is the first time an illuminated grille has been featured, with its leading edge lowered and redesigned to create a connection with the current "Phantom Series II," considered the pinnacle of Rolls-Royce. It also sports newly introduced 23-inch wheels.
The body dimensions are 5,355mm in length, 2,000mm in width, and 1,835mm in height. At its heart lies a 6.8-liter V12 engine, producing a maximum output of 420kW (571ps) and a peak torque of 850Nm.
The interior, meanwhile, adopts a design that fuses digital elements with physical craftsmanship. The passenger side features an illuminated fascia panel, first seen in Rolls-Royce's first BEV, the "Spectre," displaying the Cullinan name and a graphic inspired by the skyscrapers of a major city skyline.
Next to it is the Spirit of Ecstasy Clock Cabinet, a first for a Rolls-Royce vehicle. The unique inset case houses an analog timepiece and the Spirit of Ecstasy icon, illuminated from behind.
Additionally, the Cullinan Series II features spaces that evoke contemporary artwork, created using environmentally conscious and refined techniques such as "Duality Twill," a rayon fabric made from bamboo, and "Pleated Perforation," an artisanal technique involving small perforations in leather.
And what makes the Cullinan's significant update even more apparent is the enhancement of its digital interface and apps.
The instrument cluster panel in front of the driver has been redesigned to adopt the "Spirit" interface, the same as used in the BEV Spectre.
Furthermore, the owner-exclusive app "Whispers" has been integrated with "Spirit," allowing owners to directly send destinations to the vehicle, remotely check its location, and lock/unlock the doors via the app.
The rear screen for the back seat passengers can connect to up to two streaming devices and features a bespoke interface for transmitting vehicle management functions and seat features such as massage, heating, and cooling.
Rolls-Royce has also announced the "Black Badge Cullinan Series II," which features increased output and torque, and is now accepting orders. Deliveries for both models are scheduled to begin sequentially from the fourth quarter of 2024.
