Interior and Exterior Design Greatly Evolved, Shifting Towards Autonomous Driving
Rolls-Royce has unveiled the "Cullinan Series II," an evolved version of its SUV, the Cullinan. What does the evolution of the super-luxury SUV entail?
Equipped with the Latest Interface, Operation Possible via Owner-Exclusive App
The Cullinan, launched in 2018 as Rolls-Royce's first SUV, is an ambitious model that combines off-road capability with the "Magic Carpet Ride" for which Rolls-Royce is renowned.
After six years, a significant update has been made to the "Cullinan Series II" to refresh the evolving luxury code.
The interior and exterior design, along with a shift towards autonomous driving, have evolved significantly. The primary theme for the exterior design is said to be verticality.
The front, composed of simple yet distinctive lines and sharp edges, features elevated daytime running lights and clean, monolithic surfaces, exuding a relaxed proportion and the unique presence of Rolls-Royce.
Additionally, a shallow "V" shape is drawn from the lowest point of the daytime running lights towards the center of the car, creating a sharp line reminiscent of a sports yacht's bow. The illuminated Pantheon Grille has been adopted for the center.
Viewed from the side, the front fender draws a vertical line, while a subtle line flows from the taillights to the floating "RR" center caps of the rear wheels. The vehicle is fitted with newly introduced large 23-inch wheels.
The body color "Emperor Truffle" was developed to symbolize the "Cullinan Series II." Inspired by striped brown marble, this modern, minimalist grey-brown color uses lacquer mixed with glass particles. When combined with the bespoke "Crystal Over" finish, it creates a subtle shimmer, like fresh snow bathed in morning sun.
Inside, the interior is equipped with a display featuring the latest interface, "SPIRIT." Owners can also send destinations to the car via the Rolls-Royce owner-exclusive app "Whispers," and manage remote checks of the Cullinan and vehicle locking.
Furthermore, rear screens have been installed in the rear seats. Up to two streaming devices can be connected, and by operating these screens, access to seat functions such as massage and climate control is possible.
With internet connectivity, each screen can be viewed individually, and in the rear seats, Bluetooth headphones can be paired with the infotainment system.
The audio system features a new 18-channel, 1400-watt amplifier. By utilizing the cavities within the vehicle's aluminum sill sections as resonance chambers for low-frequency speakers, the entire car effectively transforms into a subwoofer.
In front of the passenger seat, an illuminated fascia panel displays the word "Cullinan" in light, along with graphics resembling the skyscrapers of a bustling city at night.
Next to it, the Spirit of Ecstasy and an analog timepiece are illuminated, enhancing the luxurious ambiance.
In addition, new technologies such as "Duality Twain," a new rayon fabric that took over a year to develop, and "Pleated Perforation," which creates artwork through small perforations in the leather, have been newly developed, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship and artistic space that Rolls-Royce is proud of.
The powertrain is a 6.75-liter V12 engine. The release date and pricing are yet to be determined.
