6 Series Gran Coupe Makes World Premiere
The 6 Series Gran Coupe, BMW's first four-door coupe. Despite having four doors, it boasts a flowing silhouette typical of a coupe and a luxurious interior. Compared to the standard 6 Series, the wheelbase is 113mm longer, providing ample rear legroom. The 460-liter luggage space can be expanded to 1,265 liters by folding down the rear seats.
There are three model variations. The gasoline-powered 640i and the diesel-powered 640d are equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine. The 640i produces a maximum output of 235kW at 5,800-6,000rpm and a peak torque of 450Nm at 1,300-4,500rpm, while the 640d delivers 230kW at 4,400rpm and 630Nm at 1,500-2,500rpm.
The top model, the 650i, is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 engine producing a maximum output of 330kW at 5,500-6,000rpm and a peak torque of 650Nm at 2,000-4,500rpm.
All models feature the "Valvetronic" variable valve lift system and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, an all-wheel-drive "xDrive" model will be available for the 650i.
M6 and New "M Performance" Models to Debut
As previously reported,BMW M will exhibit the M6, a high-performance model based on the 6 Series.
Additionally, four new models under BMW M's new "M Performance" category will be introduced: the M550d xDrive, M550d xDrive Touring, X5 M50d, and X6 M50d.
All these are high-performance models equipped with design and technology inherited from M series. Their most distinctive feature is the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel engine, which employs a total of three turbochargers: one large turbocharger for high output and two smaller ones for responsiveness. This engine produces a maximum output of 280kW at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 740Nm at 2,000rpm. The suspension and wheels are also sporty, derived from M. The M550d xDrive, based on the 5 Series, achieves 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds with fuel efficiency of 6.3ℓ/100km, and CO2 emissions of 165g/km.
3 Series: Entry-Level, M Sport Package, and Diesel Models Arrive
The new 3 Series, which already includes the328iequipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin-turbo engine, will see the addition of the entry-level 320i, and the diesel engine models 318d and 316d. Additionally, an M Sport Package model will be exhibited.
The 320i, like the 328i, is powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder twin-turbo engine, but its maximum output is limited to 135kW at 5,000rpm and peak torque to 270Nm at 1,250rpm.
Nevertheless, compared to the previous generation, it offers a 10kW increase in output and a 60Nm increase in torque. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, it accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds, 0.9 seconds faster than its predecessor, and achieves fuel efficiency of 5.9ℓ/100km, an improvement of 0.5ℓ/100km. The Valvetronic cylinder control technology is combined with the VANOS camshaft control technology.
The diesel engine unit is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a twin-turbocharger and an all-aluminum construction.
The 318d produces a maximum output of 105kW at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 320Nm at 1,750-2,500rpm. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds with a 6-speed manual transmission (9.3 seconds with an 8-speed automatic) and has a top speed of 210km/h. Fuel efficiency is 4.5ℓ/100km with CO2 emissions of 117g/km.
The 316d produces a maximum output of 85kW at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 260Nm at 1,750-2,500rpm. Acceleration from 0-100km/h is 10.9 seconds for the 6-speed manual model and 11.3 seconds for the 8-speed automatic model, with a top speed of 202km/h. Fuel efficiency is 4.4ℓ/100km for the manual and 4.5ℓ for the automatic, with CO2 emissions of 115g/km and 116g/km, respectively.
The 3 Series will also be joined by the ActiveHybrid 3 in the future, and xDrive all-wheel-drive models will be added starting in June. The 320i xDrive, 320d xDrive, 328i xDrive, and 335i xDrive are confirmed. For the 320d xDrive, the 6-speed manual model accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds, and the 8-speed automatic model in 7.4 seconds. The manual model's fuel efficiency is 4.8ℓ/100km with CO2 emissions of 127-129g/km. Meanwhile, the automatic models achieve fuel efficiency of 4.7-4.8ℓ/100km and CO2 emissions of 124-126g/100km.
1 Series: Models with CO2 Emissions Below 100g/km Introduced
The1 Series, which underwent a full model change in September 2011, will also see new variations added.
The 125i will feature the most powerful engine in the series, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing a maximum output of 160kW at 5,000rpm and a peak torque of 310Nm at 1,350-4,800rpm. The Valvetronic cylinder control technology is combined with VANOS camshaft control technology. The 6-speed manual transmission model accelerates from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 245km/h. The 8-speed automatic model achieves 6.5 seconds and 243km/h. Fuel efficiency is 6.6ℓ/100km, with CO2 emissions of 154g/km.
The 125d is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine, with a stated maximum output of 160kW at 4,400rpm and peak torque of 450Nm at 1,500-2,500rpm. Compared to its predecessor, the 123d, this represents an increase of 10kW in maximum output and 50Nm in peak torque.
The highlight of the 1 Series is the 116d Efficient Dynamics Edition, powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. With CO2 emissions of 99g/km, it is the first mass-produced vehicle to achieve emissions below 100g/km. It produces a maximum output of 86kW at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 260Nm at 1,750-2,500rpm. With a 6-speed manual transmission, it accelerates from 0-100km/h in 10.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 195km/h. Fuel efficiency is 3.8ℓ/100km.
Additionally, an M Sport Package for the 1 Series is scheduled for release in the spring.
