The Carrera Lineage, Reimagined by Hiroshi Fujiwara

Hiroshi Fujiwara, globally recognized as the godfather of streetwear, has once again infused his unique aesthetic sensibility into TAG Heuer's iconic collection.

The collaboration between the two brands began with the first "Carrera" in 2018, followed by the "Formula 1" in 2020. Both models featured Fujiwara's signature black and white color scheme, garnering fervent support and becoming collector's items upon release. Now, in 2025, the third chapter returns to the "Carrera," reinterpreting it with a new glass box design.

The "Carrera," developed by Jack Heuer in 1963 for racing drivers and named after the grueling Mexican race "Carrera Panamericana Mexico," has etched its name in watchmaking history as a chronograph renowned for its precision and legibility.

The standout feature of this new model is its glass box chronograph, housed within a 39mm stainless steel case. A domed sapphire crystal envelops a black opaline dial that softly absorbs light, while a curved white outer flange creates a striking contrast.

All markings on the dial, subdials, and flange are unified in a silver finish, with rhodium-plated chronograph hands. The tachymeter scale on the bezel is also rendered in a light grey, contributing to the overall restrained color palette.

A particularly noteworthy detail is the date disc, adorned with Fragment's iconic thunderbolt logo. The playful design, replacing the numbers '1' and '11' with thunderbolts, imbues this timepiece with a unique personality.

The bracelet features TAG Heuer's revived traditional seven-row 'beads of rice' design, but with a twist: the center links are treated with a black PVD coating, reflecting Fujiwara's signature use of contrast.

Powered by the in-house Calibre TH20-00, the watch boasts an impressive power reserve of approximately 80 hours. Its construction, featuring a column wheel and vertical clutch, ensures smooth chronograph operation, while the bidirectional automatic winding mechanism provides efficient energy supply.

The movement itself is also customized for the Fragment collaboration, with the TAG Heuer shield-shaped rotor featuring black graphic decoration and the Fragment logo directly printed on the sapphire crystal. This is a prime example of the unique details only a collaboration can offer, reinterpreting TAG Heuer's emblem through Fujiwara's visual language.

The case back is engraved with a "W" for victory, a nod to the tradition established by Jack Heuer during the golden age of Formula 1, when he gifted gold Carreras to winning drivers. It is now recognized as a symbol of success.

The packaging is also a special creation for this collaboration. The TAG Heuer and Fragment logos are juxtaposed in black and white, presented in a refined black box that includes an embossed black pouch. Every detail merges elegance with the brands' signatures.

TAG Heuer CEO Antoine Pin commented, "This collaboration speaks to the essence of enduring design. Hiroshi Fujiwara deeply understood our philosophy that true identity doesn't need to be reinvented, only revealed."

Hiroshi Fujiwara added, "My role was to listen to its structure and maintain the balance of a highly accomplished design. I added nothing without reason," underscoring his commitment to minimalism.

The "TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Fragment Limited Edition" is limited to 500 pieces worldwide, each with its own serial number.

This collaboration, born from a sincere dialogue between Swiss watchmaking and Japanese creative sensibility, culminates in a watch that truly symbolizes the modern era, embodying shared values of precision, innovation, and functional beauty.
