An Innovative Interpretation: Combining Display Time and Analog Hands
Since its founding in 1994, Bell & Ross has created numerous watches inspired by aviation. In 2011, they unveiled the "Red Radar," a quirky, novel, and advanced timepiece drawing inspiration from aircraft radar screens, which garnered significant attention.
This avant-garde model has now evolved further, appearing as the "BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic," a limited edition of 999 pieces worldwide.
The display adopts an innovative concept, inspired by aircraft control radar, combining a rotating disc system for time indication with analog hands. The case is now crafted from ceramic, offering scratch resistance and a smooth touch.
The display is integrated with the dial, composed of two ultra-light discs featuring two aircraft. As the discs rotate, they create the impression of flying across the dial, with a large, slow-moving passenger jet representing the "hours" and a faster-moving fighter jet representing the "minutes."
Furthermore, a slender central seconds hand accompanies these two aircraft, displaying the "seconds" and recreating the radar-like movement. The dial is covered by red sapphire crystal.
However, this design is built upon advanced engineering. Meticulous attention was paid to prevent friction from affecting the movement's accuracy, and assembly required a level of precision close to the micron scale.
The "BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic" is a model born from an innovative concept that prioritizes realism and playful, figurative representation, informing the time through a combination of a rotating disc system and analog hands.
