Blancpain introduces the "Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Mocca Run Limited Edition," a timepiece from its Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe collection, signaling a commitment to the conservation of the endangered scalloped hammerhead shark. Limited to just 50 pieces worldwide, this exclusive model will be available only at Blancpain boutiques in New York and Las Vegas. For each purchase, Blancpain will donate $1,000 to the Mokarran Protection Society.

The "Fifty Fathoms," Blancpain's iconic dive watch collection, first emerged in the early 1950s. Through this collection, Blancpain has played a pivotal role in exploring the wonders of the marine world, actively supporting exploration and ocean conservation efforts. Most recently, research on scalloped hammerhead sharks (Mokarran) has been conducted in French Polynesia under the patronage of the "Blancpain Ocean Commitment."

In January 2020, Marc A. Hayek, President and CEO of Blancpain, traveled to the atoll of Rangiroa in French Polynesia. There, he participated as a volunteer underwater videographer in a marine scientific survey conducted in collaboration with the Mokarran Protection Society. One of the objectives of this survey was to observe the behavior and ecology of wild scalloped hammerhead sharks.

While scalloped hammerhead sharks are a protected species in French Polynesia, they are endangered in international waters and beyond French territories. The mission is to understand their origins and migratory patterns to establish regulations that will safeguard them from extinction. This initiative follows surveys conducted multiple times since 2014 by diver and scientist Laurent Ballesta, with the support of Marc A. Hayek and Blancpain.

This commitment with the Mokarran Protection Society has led Blancpain to release the "Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Mocca Run Limited Edition," a special dive watch dedicated to the conservation of the scalloped hammerhead shark. A distinctive feature of this limited edition is its tropical green dial, a first for the collection. The dial boasts a sunburst finish, capturing light to create a vibrant, colorful shimmer. Design elements iconic to the Bathyscaphe, such as the baton hands and geometric indices with luminescent coating, are beautifully enhanced by this striking hue.

The unidirectional rotating bezel features a green ceramic insert that complements the dial. The 43.6mm black ceramic case, with its satin finish, offers a water resistance of 30 bar. Through the sapphire crystal case back, one can admire the new Calibre 1318, derived from the precise, high-performance, and aesthetically refined Calibre 1315. This self-winding movement incorporates a balance wheel with a silicon hairspring and, thanks to its three barrels, achieves an impressive five-day power reserve. The gold oscillating weight is engraved with a scalloped hammerhead shark motif and features an NAC coating.

This model, limited to 50 pieces, is exclusively available at Blancpain boutiques in New York and Las Vegas. For each purchase, Blancpain will donate $1,000 to the Mokarran Protection Society. Blancpain has a long-standing history of introducing, respecting, and conserving the marine world, and this limited watch series is set to contribute an additional $50,000 to these efforts.

In addition to the watch, purchasers will receive a donation certificate, a framed underwater photograph taken during the January expedition, and a personal access code to the Blancpain Ocean Commitment Circle.
