TAG Heuer has updated its purest and most elegant three-hand model within the "Carrera Collection," a symbol of sporty spirit, and announced 13 new timepieces. The design, which reinterprets the inherent elegance of these timepieces in a modern style, is offered in four variations: the "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 Day-Date," "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 7 Twin-Time Date," "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 Date," and "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 9 Date."
A Clear Dial Design Adding a New Interpretation Between Sportsmanship and Elegance
The "TAG Heuer Carrera" is a collection known as the ultimate expression of captivating motorsport heritage, a timelessly sporty and elegant chronograph. With its clean, smooth lines and perfect proportions, it has established itself as an icon of watchmaking, identifiable at a glance. Its characteristic is a highly legible, exceptionally clear design, allowing drivers to read the time at a glance even during intense races.
TAG Heuer's Heritage Director, Nicolas Biver, stated, "TAG Heuer's pursuit of legibility began when Jack Heuer, participating in a Swiss rally in 1958, missed reading his dashboard timer accurately and dropped from first to third place. Jack Heuer then decided to focus on and improve this weakness, and being fond of modern design, he created a watch with astonishing legibility. The Carrera, launched in 1963, was fundamentally different from any watch TAG Heuer had produced before. In the Carrera, you can see a commitment to typography and the pursuit of the purest form possible."
Since the introduction of the three-hand model of the "TAG Heuer Carrera" in the early 2000s, this model has embodied TAG Heuer's unwavering pursuit of clarity in time display and perfect legibility. If the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph is the sharpest and most readable model for "recording" time, then the Carrera three-hand model is the sharpest and most readable model for "displaying" time. In essence, it can be considered a natural successor to the dashboard timers that Heuer manufactured from the 1930s onwards.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera three-hand collection for 2021, while maintaining the fundamental timekeeping philosophy of its predecessors, offers models that express this rich heritage with a modern touch. All of them inherit the style codes of the "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 02 Chronograph" announced in 2020. The result is a refined, modern look inspired by the pure style that first made the TAG Heuer Carrera an iconic model.
The "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 Date" and "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 Day-Date" feature the Calibre 5 automatic movement housed in new 39mm or 41mm cases with refined lugs. Maintaining its enduring strength, the dial's legibility is achieved through broad hands and sophisticated indices. The 39mm date model has the date at the 6 o'clock position, while the 41mm day-date model features a more slender date frame.
The "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 7 Twin-Time Date" is equipped with the Calibre 7 automatic movement. The Twin-Time version is paired with a new H-shaped bracelet, and the dial features broad hour and minute hands, along with a Twin-Time hand with a refined red tip. The elegant and sporty design is enhanced by a new, sophisticated flange in two colors, blue and silver, indicating day and night.
The "TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 9 Date" is powered by the Calibre 9 automatic movement and features a new case with refined lugs and a new H-shaped bracelet. For enhanced legibility, the dial incorporates broad hands and new sophisticated indices, reflecting light while drawing inspiration from the Carrera's roots. In the 29mm case diameter line, the date is integrated at the 6 o'clock position, with a new refined version featuring diamond indices available.
The launch of the TAG Heuer Carrera three-hand collection beautifully embodies Jack Heuer's quest for legibility through its pure design and sophistication with a new interpretation, adding a new chapter to the history of the TAG Heuer Carrera.
