What is the Jewelry Collection "Maji"?

Actress Sharon Stone, also a brand ambassador for Damiani, visited Japan and held a presentation for a new project on Friday, November 20th, at TOHO Cinemas in Yurakucho. The project announced a new collection called "Maji," which uses rough diamonds, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to provide clean water in Africa.

"Peace lies in the actions of each individual."

Sharon Stone, a long-time supporter of amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research) and an active participant in charity work, has been dedicated to these causes. After traveling through various parts of Africa with Giorgio Damiani, Vice President of the Damiani Group, she witnessed firsthand the immense difficulty in providing clean drinking water to children. This experience inspired her to launch the current project, aimed at establishing a system for maintaining wells and public health infrastructure.

The current project involves Sharon Stone and Damiani creating a collection using rough diamonds, with a portion of the proceeds donated to charity. Sharon Stone's visit to Japan was a significant undertaking, solely dedicated to presenting this project herself.

The event began with a screening of footage from Sharon Stone's reporting trip to Uganda.

"I serve as an ambassador for an AIDS research support organization, and over the past 15 years, the landscape of AIDS has changed dramatically. There are still 33 million people living with HIV today, and a child dies every minute."

amfAR, for which she serves as ambassador, has so far donated 229 million yen, which has been instrumental in the research and development of drugs and vaccines.

"There is a recently developed vaccine called Nevirapine, which can prevent the transmission of HIV from infected pregnant women to their babies. However, even if transmission during pregnancy is prevented, the virus can still be passed through breast milk. To feed infants formula instead of breast milk requires clean water, which is scarce in Africa. The reality is that only muddy water contaminated with cholera is available, leading to an average life expectancy of just 9 months for infants."

Based on her experiences in Africa, Sharon Stone personally recognized the vital importance of wells, and this project with Damiani is intended to support their establishment.

"This collaboration with Damiani has taken shape over two years. We view this project as a symbol of peace and action. For me personally, pursuing this project has also been a journey of personal growth. Small actions, like returning a shopping cart or picking up a discarded plastic bottle, accumulate to create 'PEACE.' I want to convey that peace is found in the actions of each individual."

The presentation deeply moved everyone present, witnessing the unwavering dedication and sincere commitment of Sharon Stone, a renowned actress, to charitable causes.
