Japan Exclusive. A Special Model Adorned in "Japan Blue"
Girard-Perregaux established its first authorized dealership in Japan in 1861, during the Bakumatsu period, at a time when Swiss luxury watch brands had yet to enter the market. In the 1860s, when François Perregaux, a member of the brand's founding family, first visited Japan, the color of indigo dye permeated every aspect of the country, from people's clothing to shop curtains. François passed away in Yokohama in 1877. However, British chemist Robert Atkinson, who visited Japan in 1874 and was struck by the pervasive indigo hues, described and recorded this color as "Japan blue."
Reflecting on this brand history in Japan, the "Vintage 1945 Japan Blue Limited Edition" features a white dial with blue hands, indigo Roman numerals, and a matching strap, all presented in an Art Deco style that harmoniously blends straight lines and curves. The rectangular case and sapphire crystal are gently curved from top to bottom and left to right, ensuring a comfortable fit. Through the sapphire crystal on the case back, one can admire the beautifully finished in-house automatic movement, the GP03300. This model is exclusively available in a limited run of 100 pieces for Japan.
