Girard-Perregaux Tackles New Value Creation with the "Deep Diver"

Bamford Watch Department's Magic Revives a Masterpiece

The "Deep Diver" garnered attention as a cutting-edge dive watch of its era, both technically and aesthetically, featuring an advanced cushion-shaped case and the energy-efficient "Gyromatic" automatic winding system.
Its 14-sided bezel and vibrant red dial defined its iconic appearance, hinting at the design language that would later influence the Laureato series.
The newly released "Deep Diver" is a contemporary reimagining of that original spirit. While the cushion-shaped case retains the original form, the use of lightweight yet robust Grade 5 titanium enhances wearability.
Measuring 40.30mm x 38.00mm, it ensures excellent comfort and legibility. The crown, positioned at 2 and 4 o'clock as on the original model, contributes to the refined aesthetic with its symmetrical case design.
The dial features vivid, pop colors reminiscent of a 1971 variation, with playful blue, orange, and white hues standing out. The hands and indices are coated with Super-LumiNova, emitting a blue glow in low light. Practical functions include a rotating inner bezel and a date display.
The watch is powered by the Caliber GP03300, entirely developed and manufactured in-house at Girard-Perregaux's La Chaux-de-Fonds facility. Despite its slim profile of just 3.36mm, it offers a power reserve of approximately 46 hours.
Traditional Swiss watchmaking techniques are extensively employed, including Côtes de Genève decoration, polished chamfers, perlage, and mirror-polished screws, with an engraved rotor.
The sapphire crystal case back features blue metallization, elegantly revealing the movement within. True to its name, the Deep Diver is further enhanced with an emblem of Neptune's trident, reinforcing its aquatic identity.
The strap is made of rubber with a quick-release system, allowing for easy changes without tools. It comes with both blue and orange straps, offering versatile styling options.
The "Bamford Watch Department," our partner for this model, is a pioneer in watch customization based in London, with a history of collaborations with prestigious global brands. Their approach respects traditional watchmaking while integrating contemporary sensibilities, a philosophy evident in this revival of the Deep Diver.
The Deep Diver from the "Legacy Edition" collection is more than just a reissue; it's a challenging piece that embodies the Maison's craftsmanship and aesthetic from past to present, creating unprecedented value through collaboration.
