A Symbiosis of Luxury and Ambition
The newly released "Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition" embodies the relentless pursuit of luxury shared by Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin.
While the two brands have collaborated on models before, this iteration is based on the Laureato. First introduced in 1975, the original Laureato is distinguished by its unique design: a round base atop a square case, crowned by an octagonal bezel.
It's not just the silhouette that makes the "Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition" so striking; the color is equally significant.
Green was once the national racing color of Britain, and it remains a color offered by Aston Martin today, symbolizing British engineering and passion. This hue has been featured in previous collaborations, and its beautiful vibrancy is present once again. The ceramic used for the case and bracelet is composed of zirconium oxide and metal oxides, which impart the distinctive green tone.
The surfaces are finished with both polished and satin treatments. Green ceramic is exceptionally hard—seven times harder than steel—making it remarkably scratch-resistant and capable of maintaining its aesthetic appeal over time. It also resists aging and fading, is unaffected by ambient temperature changes, is lightweight, and hypoallergenic. The green ceramic components contribute to a comfortable wearing experience.
The details incorporate elements inspired by Aston Martin cars.
Aston Martin cars are known for their powerful engines, sleek silhouettes, and lightweight construction. Inspired by this emphasis on lightness, Girard-Perregaux has adopted skeletonized "baton" hands for the hour and minute, reflecting a lightweight and functional design.
The watch face features a cross-hatch pattern, drawing inspiration from the diamond motif found in the "AM" logo (1921-1926) and the quilted upholstery patterns in several Aston Martin high-performance cars.
Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Girard-Perregaux, commented, "From its inception, the Laureato's design has been distinctive yet consistent. It features a geometric and clean styling, yet possesses a certain softness. Key factors in the Laureato's resounding success include the contrasting polished and satin finishes on its surfaces, its ergonomic integrated bracelet, and, of course, its in-house movements. The new Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition clearly possesses these same elements, enhanced by the addition of a very contemporary and intriguing material."
Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin Lagonda, added, "Our goal was to create an avant-garde luxury item. Patrick and I spent a long time discussing the legend of the Laureato, including the design of its legendary bezel shape and proportions. When Patrick spoke about Girard-Perregaux's pursuit of the optical properties, micro-beads, and microns of industrial ceramics, I was captivated by the idea of the past becoming the future. At Aston Martin, we constantly explore combinations of technology, color, and materials to enhance the performance, functionality, and ownership pleasure of our sports cars. Together, we have fused these ideas and characteristics to create this cool, new Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition."
Available in two sizes, 42mm and 38mm, with limited releases of 388 and 188 pieces respectively. Both brands, synonymous with the pinnacle of luxury, have infused this model with their history and expertise, resulting in a truly valuable timepiece.
