SEIKO

The Limited Edition "Prestige Line 2020 Limited Edition" Reimagines Japan's First Chronograph from 1964

From "Seiko Presage," three limited edition models have been released, each in a worldwide run of 1,964 units. These watches are modern reinterpretations of the "Crown Chronograph," Japan's first chronograph that debuted in 1964, drawing inspiration from its design. The collection is named "<Seiko Presage> Prestige Line 2020 Limited Edition."

A Mechanical Watch Blending Classical Ambiance with Modern Specifications

Developed in response to the burgeoning sports boom of 1964, the "Crown Chronograph" was Japan's first domestic chronograph with a stopwatch function. Based on the hand-wound mechanical watch "Crown," it was a simple chronograph where the stopwatch seconds hand was controlled by a single button at the 2 o'clock position. Despite its simplicity, it offered excellent legibility and the primitive charm of a measuring instrument, marking it as a pioneer of Seiko sports watches. This limited edition mechanical watch with a calendar and three hands, the "<Seiko Presage> Prestige Line 2020 Limited Edition," is a modern interpretation that pays homage to the design of the "Crown Chronograph," with all three models now released.
This piece inherits the three-hand design and highly legible dial layout of the 1964 "Crown Chronograph" (※reference image). In addition, like the original model, it features a narrow rotating bezel with sharp Arabic numerals and a case with an inward slant, ensuring a secure fit on the wrist.

Meanwhile, the case and glass materials have been upgraded, and an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface of the glass enhances visibility. In addition to an ivory dial reminiscent of the original model, the lineup includes black and green options to complement contemporary fashion.
The Caliber "6R35" boasts approximately 70 hours of power reserve, offering the practical convenience of being usable on Monday morning even if not worn over the weekend. This results in a mechanical watch that harmoniously blends a classical aesthetic with modern specifications.

In commemoration of the "Crown Chronograph's" release year, this model is limited to 1,964 units worldwide. Each watch is individually numbered on the case back and comes with a special presentation box. Sales have commenced at Seiko Boutiques, Seiko Watch Salons, and Seiko Global Brand Core Shops.
