Limited Edition with New In-House Calibre 401: High Magnetic Resistance and 5-Day Power Reserve

Oris has released the "Oris Carl Brashear Calibre 401 Limited Edition," which supports the Carl Brashear Foundation. This model, limited to 2,000 pieces, is the first watch to feature the new Oris Calibre 401, an in-house developed automatic movement.

A Bronze Case and Blue Dial Honor a Courageous Navy Diver

Oris Carl Brashear Calibre 401 Limited Edition | ORIS

Carl Brashear became the first African American Navy diver in 1954. In 1966, he lost his left leg below the knee in an accident during a mission, yet he continued his service as a one-legged diver until 1979. The Carl Brashear Foundation was established to pass on the legacy of his life, which overcame adversity, and to support the social reintegration of injured military personnel.

The "Oris Carl Brashear Calibre 401 Limited Edition," which supports this Carl Brashear Foundation, has been announced in a limited run of 2,000 pieces.

This watch is the first to feature the new Oris Calibre 401, an in-house developed automatic movement with three outstanding functions. Developed from Oris's in-house Calibre 400, announced in 2020, this movement offers accuracy exceeding chronometer standards (within -3/+5 seconds per day), extremely high magnetic resistance that surpasses ISO764 regulations, a power reserve of up to five days, and an extended ten-year warranty upon registration with MyOris.

Furthermore, it newly incorporates a small seconds display at 6 o'clock, a signature feature of Oris. Like the conviction Carl Brashear demonstrated throughout his life, this movement is designed to overcome the various challenges faced by mechanical watches.

The 40mm case is crafted from bronze, the same material used for the helmets worn by Navy divers of that era. Bronze also develops a unique patina over time through exposure to air and the wearer's skin moisture, acquiring a distinctive character that reflects its owner.

The blue dial, inspired by traditional Navy colors, is paired with a unidirectional rotating bezel engraved with a diving scale, and a handcrafted strap from Erika's Originals, made with sweat-absorbent and quick-drying elastic nylon yarn.
