A. Lange & Söhne: 20 Years of the Legendary Revival Collection

A. Lange & Söhne, a brand that carries on the traditional and artistic watchmaking of the Kingdom of Saxony into the modern era, has a dramatic history of dormancy due to the division of Germany and a revival after nearly 50 years. And in 2014, 20 years after the brand's first collection was launched following its revival… a commemorative model was announced.

Limited Collection Public Exhibition Event Held

A. Lange & Söhne, a brand that conveys the artistry of German watchmaking to the present day. Founded in 1845 in Glashütte, in the eastern part of Germany, this historic manufacture has been subject to the whims of international politics. After being forced into dormancy for about half a century due to the division of East and West Germany after World War II, the brand was revived by Walter Lange, the fourth generation of the family, upon the reunification of East and West Germany. In 1994, the debut of the flagship collection "Lange 1," with its distinctive off-center dial and meticulously finished in-house movement, marked a miraculous revival.

2014 marks 20 years since the first collection was launched after the brand's revival. This is a significant milestone in its dramatic history.

To commemorate this, A. Lange & Söhne has created a 20th-anniversary limited collection. The flagship model and symbol of revival, the "Lange 1," is paired with its ladies' version, the "Little 1." A total of five types are available: platinum cases with rhodium or black dials, 18K white gold cases with blue dials, and 18K pink gold cases with silver or black dials. Each type is produced in a rare limited quantity of 20 sets. All dials are made of solid gold, featuring a special specification with delicate yet elegant guilloché decoration.

This collection was first unveiled at Watches & Wonders in Hong Kong on September 29th. Following a commemorative ceremony in Germany, an unveiling event will be held in Tokyo at two stores over a total of four days. We highly recommend you come and admire these beautiful timepieces up close.
