A. Lange & Söhne introduces a new creation featuring a pink-gold dial, blending precision and elegance: the Richard Lange Jumping Seconds. This unique piece innovatively combines three technical advancements: a power-reserve mechanism, a jumping seconds complication, and a zero-reset function.

A Limited Edition of 100 with a Pink-Gold Dial

The newly unveiled model boasts an enhanced, elegant pink-gold dial. The warm hue of 750 pink gold creates a striking contrast with the cool luster of the white gold case.
Practicality is also paramount. When the power reserve drops below ten hours, a triangular indicator at the intersection of the hour and minute circles turns red, visually signaling the need for winding. This ensures the wearer is always aware of the watch's status.
The balanced dial design traces its roots to the "Chronometer No. 93," crafted in the late 18th century by Dresden's master watchmaker Johann Heinrich Seyffert. Seyffert laid the foundations for precision watchmaking in Germany and later significantly influenced Ferdinand Adolph Lange, the founder of A. Lange & Söhne.
Alexander von Humboldt, the renowned explorer and naturalist, was among Seyffert's distinguished clientele. He carried Seyffert's chronometer on his legendary South American expedition, a journey still recounted today. This design, informed by such historical context, serves not only aesthetic purposes but also ensures excellent legibility.
Beneath the dial of the "Richard Lange Jumping Seconds," three mechanisms—the power-reserve mechanism, the jumping seconds complication, and the zero-reset function—work in exquisite harmony.
The power-reserve mechanism ensures a constant supply of energy to the balance wheel, from a fully wound state to nearly unwound. This technology overcomes the traditional challenge of accuracy fluctuations caused by power variations in mechanical watches, achieving superior rate accuracy.
With its intricate lever mechanism, the zero-reset function stops the balance wheel and instantly snaps the seconds hand back to zero when the crown is pulled. This feature greatly enhances practicality by enabling precise time setting to the second.
The sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the intricate and harmonious movements of these three mechanisms. Through an aperture in the three-quarter plate, one can observe the power-reserve mechanism's mainspring receiving new energy from the twin barrels every second and transmitting it to the gear train.
Particularly noteworthy is the five-pointed star gear beneath the transparent jewel bearing that holds the escape wheel arbor, which controls the jumping seconds complication. Furthermore, the complex lever mechanism of the zero-reset function and the regulating spring that blocks the balance wheel for precise time setting are clearly visible.
The movement powering this timepiece is the hand-wound Calibre L094.1. In line with other Lange timepieces, the movement undergoes a meticulous process of disassembly and reassembly, known as "disassembly and reassembly" or "second assembly."
Antony de Haas, Product Development Director at A. Lange & Söhne, commented on the new creation:

"The Richard Lange Jumping Seconds merges uncompromising precision in every aspect with distinctive elegance. While this watch enables outstanding rate accuracy and quick, precise time setting, our watchmakers have succeeded in integrating complex mechanisms into a limited space, resulting in an elegantly proportioned flat construction. The color ensemble of the 750 white gold case and the pink gold dial with contrasting black markings is a standout feature of this timepiece."
This model is a limited release of 100 pieces. While the intricate mechanics are captivating, the dial's beauty and legibility truly embody the history of watchmaking itself.
