Recreating the Porsche Panamera's Standard Clock as a Wristwatch

Four new models have been released in the "Sport Chrono Collection," recreating the Porsche Design clock that comes standard on the new Porsche Panamera as a wristwatch.

A New Creation Inheriting the Philosophy of Porsche Design

In the new Porsche Panamera, the previously optional Sport Chrono Package is now standard, including a Porsche Design clock as part of the equipment. This clock features a high-quality metal dial with ceramic indices and in-house hands, combined with specially developed lighting technology to ensure easy readability and perfect visibility even in low light or darkness.

Four models in the "Sport Chrono Collection" have been released, recreating this clock as a wristwatch.

The new models, including a chronograph and a three-hand model with small seconds, are characterized by their classic design. They combine materials and performance characteristics typical of sports car construction. The new collection once again highlights Porsche Design's expertise in watchmaking, offering customers of the Porsche brand the opportunity to wear the functions of their sports car on their wrist.

The roots of this collection can be traced back to the Chronograph I, inspired by the dashboard instruments of the Porsche 911. With its matte black dial and pure white indices and hands, this watch, which allowed for easy time reading from any angle at any time, remains a legendary benchmark in the industry. The central red chronograph seconds hand, modeled after a tachometer, also draws inspiration from the sports car cockpit.

The dashboard instruments of the Porsche 911 have been continuously refined to offer a multitude of control functions, evolving into digital displays and single-hand instruments as part of the so-called Sport Chrono Package. This vision of combining sports cars with instruments in the form of high-end wristwatches has now been realized. This is the electric clock that is now standard for the first time in the new Porsche Panamera.

Features include a radially cut metal dial, ceramic indices with Super-LumiNova coating, and metal hands. Combined with specially developed incident light technology, these elements allow for easy time determination at any moment and from any angle.

The new "Sport Chrono Collection" recreates this enhanced Sport Chrono Package as a wristwatch. The "Sport Chrono Subsecond" is COSC-certified and equipped with the newly developed in-house Porsche Design caliber WERK 03.200. It is available in three variations with a titanium case and a black, blue, or brown dial. Its appeal lies not only in its compact design but also in its robust titanium case. Titanium, a hallmark of Porsche Design, is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and comfortable to wear.

The "Sport Chrono," an automatic winding watch powered by the Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.100, is also made of titanium. While the sub-second model features a closed case back, the chronograph boasts a sapphire crystal case back, allowing a view of the high-quality design and the rotor bearing the Porsche Design icon.

As with other Porsche Design watches, this model features anti-reflective sapphire crystal with seven layers of hard coating, a high-quality leather strap made from genuine Porsche leather, and a titanium folding clasp with a safety push-button.

These new "Porsche Design Sport Chrono Collection" models have been available at authorized Porsche Design retailers nationwide since September 2020.
