New Aquascope Marks 150 Years of Japan-Switzerland Relations

Swiss watchmaker Jeanrichard has unveiled a new addition to its Aquascope series, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce between Japan and Switzerland. The design draws inspiration from Katsushika Hokusai, one of Japan's most celebrated ukiyo-e artists.

Masterpieces by Katsushika Hokusai Adorn the Dial

Katsushika Hokusai, a preeminent figure in Japanese art history, left behind an astonishing body of paintings and prints. His lifelong pursuit of artistic expression and his uncompromising, pioneering spirit resonate with Jeanrichard's brand concept, the "Philosophy of Life."

The new model features a dial inspired by his iconic woodblock print, "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" from the series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji." Available in white, grey, blue, and black, the dials are engraved in a Hokusai-esque style. The watch is powered by an automatic movement and comes with either a rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet, the latter equipped with a folding buckle.

"With Daniel Jeanrichard, who is known for assembling the first watch movements in Switzerland in 1681, at the heart of our brand's DNA, we are inspired by the pioneering spirit of the envoys who visited Japan 150 years ago. We are proud to celebrate this significant anniversary for both our countries with the launch of a new model that pays tribute to one of Japan's greatest artists, Katsushika Hokusai," commented Jeanrichard CEO, Bruno Grande.
