Screening of Footage from Marine Research Supported by Blancpain

June 8th, "World Oceans Day," was established by the UN General Assembly in 2008 and began in 2009. It was created to raise global awareness of the marine issues currently facing the international community.

In 1953, we released the first modern diving watch, the "Fifty Fathoms". Since then, Blancpain, with its deep connection to the sea, has organized this photo exhibition in collaboration with the UN Office of Legal Affairs, Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea, and others, to help more people learn about the marine world on "World Oceans Day."

The exhibition showcases photographs by 16 world-renowned photographers who have published their work in "Edition Fifty Fathoms," Blancpain's annual journal dedicated to the underwater world. Masashi Ushioda represented Japan with his photographs.

In addition to photographs, the exhibition also screens two short films shot during marine research expeditions.

In addition to photographs, the exhibition also screens two short films. One is from the "Gombessa Project" research project on coelacanths, supported by Blancpain. The other features footage from the "Explorations of the Primeval Ocean" project, a collaboration between National Geographic and Blancpain aimed at discovering, researching, and protecting the last unexplored frontiers of the sea.

The ocean, a driver of climate, a vast part of the biosphere, and critically important for the health and survival of all life. "Oceans" is an exhibition that offers a comprehensive look at Blancpain's activities, which have actively engaged with the great seas.
