Reproducing the markings of laboratory glassware
A limited edition of only 150 pieces with hand-applied artwork
Following the "IQ Watch" released in 2008 with a blackboard design on the dial, the "2π" released in 2015 using degrees and radians for numbers, and the "Freakson" released in 2011 with a frosted crystal... the fourth collaboration model has arrived: the "Rolf Sachs 2.4ml Limited Edition" from Swiss watch brand FORTIS and Swiss artist Rolf Sachs, known for his diverse expertise and mixed-media approach.

Slight individual variations become part of the artwork's charm
Rolf Sachs, who excels at challenging new endeavors, incorporated the visual language of chemical laboratory glassware into his design for the "2.4ml Watch." Inspired by chemical techniques observed in the lab, he completed the design with a completely new and unexpected approach.
Employing "ambering" (coloring to an amber hue), a technique used for the first time in the watch industry, the markings found on laboratory glassware are recreated on the watch's crystal. The created artwork is applied directly to the glass surface, immersed in an amber dye bath, and then fired in a high-temperature oven. This process directly bakes the Arabic numerals, minute indices, and logo onto the glass, ensuring the markings will not fade even if the surface is scratched. Due to the manual application, slight variations in finish and color occur between individual pieces, which in turn enhances their unique character.
The model name "2.4ml" refers to the amount of air between the glass and the dial. All details, including the steel case, hands, and orange silicone strap, reflect the laboratory's aesthetic and techniques. Sachs' signature artistic method, which creates overall design coherence through meticulous attention to detail, is evident here.
