Featuring a Classical Black Dial
Named after the phoenix, a symbol of rebirth in ancient Egyptian mythology, the "Benu" represents the revival of MORITZ GROSSMANN. This special edition, the "Benu Pure Japan Limited," merges this debut model with a stainless steel case and the Pure Finish calibre, designed and produced exclusively for the Japanese market.
MORITZ GROSSMANN's Pure series, unveiled at Baselworld 2016, marks the brand's first foray into stainless steel. This new line joins the "Atum," a simple three-hand model, and the "Tefnut," a slim dress watch.
'Pure' embodies a new concept focused on the intricate details of watchmaking, harmonizing material and functionality. The classical Pure Finish calibre, stripped of excessive ornamentation, is paired with a stainless steel case, a decidedly modern material.
The dial retains the "Benu's" signature Arabic numerals and small seconds subdial, but adopts a black dial, a first for the brand and highly popular in Japan. Furthermore, while the standard Pure series dials are crafted from brass, this Japan-exclusive model utilizes solid silver.
The hands also feature a different finish compared to the standard stainless steel models. These stainless steel hands are enhanced with HyCeram resin filling small recesses, creating a striking contrast with the black and improving legibility. This composite material, made from micro-ceramics and polymers, achieves a unique luster when polished alongside the metal components.
For the "Benu Pure Japan Limited," the surface treatment of the stainless steel case has been modified: the top of the case features a satin finish, while the sides are polished. Additionally, the case back is engraved with two inscriptions: "EDITION JAPAN" and "LIMITED 20."
The watch is powered by the in-house Calibre 201.0. The unitized winding stem incorporates MORITZ GROSSMANN's proprietary manual-winding mechanism with a pusher. Pulling the crown switches to the time-setting function, and the crown automatically returns to its original position via a spring. After setting the time, pressing the pusher below the crown allows the movement to resume smoothly without any jump, ensuring precise time adjustment.
