Where Cutting-Edge Movement Meets Classical Design
The Goodwood Members' Meeting refers to the exclusive gathering held 71 times from 1949 to 1966 by the British Automobile Racing Club, a venerable British car club, on the grounds of Goodwood House on England's south coast. After a long hiatus, it was revived in 2014, and since then, the atmosphere of the historic Members' Meeting has been faithfully recreated.
IWC Schaffhausen has served as the official timing partner since 2015, and this year, the company presented the legendary Formula 1 cars, the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows W196 and W125. The fact that Mika Häkkinen, a two-time Formula 1 World Champion, was at the wheel of these iconic machines undoubtedly amplified the crowd's excitement.
And this year, IWC Schaffhausen has also introduced three original models as a tribute to motorsport.
The first model is the Ingenieur Chronograph "74th Goodwood Members' Meeting." As the name suggests, this is a special edition inspired by the dashboards of traditional sports cars, with only 74 pieces produced, matching the number of the event.
The second model is the Ingenieur Chronograph "Rudolf Caracciola." This watch is dedicated to the legendary racer Rudolf Caracciola, who achieved numerous victories in European races during the 1930s. The dial is said to be based on the cockpit design of Caracciola's cars, which secured his many wins. It is a limited edition of 750 pieces worldwide.
The third model is the Ingenieur Chronograph "W 125," designed in homage to the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow W 125. A notable feature is its titanium case. This model is also a limited edition of 750 pieces worldwide.
Each of these models exudes a classical, elegant, and mechanical aura befitting Goodwood, presenting a delightful dilemma for automotive enthusiasts.
As expected from the high-performance Ingenieur series within IWC Schaffhausen, these watches are equipped with the latest in-house Calibre 69370 movement, promising precise timekeeping and the refined operation of a chronograph.
