IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 "TOP GUN Miramar." This timepiece is adorned with a new light blue, developed in collaboration with Pantone®, evoking the essence of summer. Simultaneously, a new version of the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 has been introduced, featuring a stainless steel case complemented by a matching dial and rubber strap.

The color palette for IWC's "TOP GUN" series is inspired by naval aviation and developed in partnership with Pantone®. Previous releases have featured colors such as Mojave Desert, Lake Tahoe, Woodland, Oceana, and Jet Black.

This "IWC TOP GUN Miramar" draws its inspiration from the light blue t-shirts worn by TOP GUN instructors beneath their flight suits. Having undergone rigorous testing and training, these individuals are recognized as skilled pilots and exceptional instructors. The "Miramar" was developed as a tribute to this world of professionalism.

The case is crafted from ceramic, featuring a dial of the same color and a water-repellent rubber strap. The blue hands are coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring precise time readability even in low light conditions.

This ceramic is produced through a complex manufacturing process. Zirconium oxide and other metal oxides are blended in precise ratios, and the color changes during sintering. Consequently, extensive trial and error was required to achieve this specific hue.

Achieving a consistent color match between the new ceramic and other components, such as the dial and rubber strap, proved particularly challenging. Each component is made from materials with unique properties, necessitating dedicated processes for each.

Meanwhile, the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388117) marks the first time IWC Schaffhausen has incorporated a Pantone color into a stainless steel case watch.

The 41mm stainless steel case is paired with a dial and rubber strap in "IWC TOP GUN Miramar" blue. Rhodium-plated hands coated with Super-LumiNova® ensure excellent legibility.

Both models are powered by IWC's in-house Calibre 69000 movement. This chronograph movement is engineered for robustness, reliability, and precision, featuring a column-wheel design that provides a distinct tactile click when operating the pushers.

Furthermore, the efficient Pellaton automatic winding system ensures a power reserve of 46 hours. IWC's characteristic vertical dial layout places the minute counter at the 12 o'clock position, allowing for intuitive reading of chronograph measurements.

The stainless steel case model allows for an appreciation of the movement's intricate workings. In contrast, the ceramic case model is equipped with a titanium case back engraved with the iconic "TOP GUN" logo. It also features a soft iron inner case to shield the movement from magnetic fields.

Both models are fitted with IWC's EasX-CHANGE® system. By simply pressing a button integrated into the strap, one can easily detach it from the spring bars without tools and swap it for another.

While this creation impresses with its refreshing light blue, fitting for the summer season, it also powerfully showcases the maison's craftsmanship, merging respect for naval aviation with cutting-edge watchmaking technology.
