Advanced Material Redefines a Classic Chronograph

This model features IWC’s proprietary Ceratanium® material used for the entire 41mm case, crown, and push-buttons. Ceratanium® is an advanced material developed by IWC, based on a special titanium alloy that is fired at high temperatures. It offers the lightness and robustness of titanium combined with the hardness and scratch resistance of ceramic. Furthermore, the dark, metallic finish achieved through firing creates a unique material aesthetic unlike any other.
The all-black design is meticulously applied to the dial, applied Arabic numerals, indices, and hands.
Traditional design elements of the Portugieser Chronograph, such as the inner bezel with 1/4-second markings and the vertically arranged sub-dials, subtly emerge from the black background, further accentuating the beauty of its silhouette. Complementing this, a black rubber strap with a square pattern adds a refined touch to the overall chic appearance.
Christian Knoop, Creative Director, commented, "The all-black execution emphasizes the chronograph's form, drawing the eye to its distinctive silhouette." The combination of timeless design and innovative materials expands the possibilities of this heritage chronograph.
The watch is powered by IWC’s in-house Calibre 69355. This robust and reliable chronograph movement features a column-wheel control mechanism, providing crisp tactile feedback with each button press. It employs a double-pawl winding system and offers a power reserve of 46 hours.
IWC continues to push the boundaries of watchmaking, even venturing into material development to redefine the potential of the chronograph. This timepiece is a testament to that commitment, showcasing a new dimension for the maison's iconic model.
