Rado's Pursuit of Beautiful Ceramic Materials (1)

For 2015, Rado has set its concept as "Modern Alchemy," unveiling a host of watches crafted from its signature high-tech ceramic. Unlike other brands, Rado strives to create stronger, lighter watches by masterfully employing ceramic, a material distinct from metal.

Creating New Ceramic Watches, Horizontally and Vertically

It is no exaggeration to say that Rado's history is a history of wrestling with unconventional materials. The brand is known as a pioneer in its work with high-tech ceramics, and 2015 is set to see a succession of high-tech ceramic watches released.

Of particular note is the chocolate brown ceramic model, a color previously unseen in this material, which brings a new elegance to timepieces.

In addition to these, the expansion of metallic-colored plasma ceramic models and new releases of the "True" model, launching first in Japan, have garnered significant attention. Rado's 2015 product concept is "MODERN ALCHEMY." By creating watches from non-metallic materials that possess strength and value exceeding that of metal, Rado truly deserves to be called a "modern alchemist."

The First Chocolate Brown Ceramic

While chocolate brown has recently begun to appear as a dial color, the concept of using it for a ceramic case is an industry first.

Rado possesses unique expertise in high-tech ceramics, and this case is born from firing in a dedicated high-temperature furnace. The monobloc case, colored brown, and the bracelet, assembled from brown components, are finished in either polished or satin, creating subtle variations in light and shadow on the watch's surface and lending it a beautiful three-dimensionality.

The dial, finished in the same color, along with the rose gold-finished crown, indices, and hands, creates a harmonious match and a cohesive design. The high scratch resistance inherent to high-tech ceramics is also appealing, but the era of choosing ceramic watches based on design has truly arrived.

Fusion of Original Dial Design and Plasma Ceramic

The Rado "D-Star Grand Seconde" is characterized by its dial design. The hour and minute hands are offset towards the 3 o'clock position, with the seconds display at the 9 o'clock position. This seconds display is not a "small seconds" but a true "Grand Seconde." It leaves an unforgettable impression at first glance.

The case color is a sophisticated, grayish chrome. However, this watch's case is also made of high-tech ceramic. Fired through plasma discharge at an ultra-high temperature of approximately 20,000°C, the white monobloc case develops a warm, subdued metallic gray sheen on its surface.

This plasma high-tech ceramic case, treated with plasma carburization, possesses the same hardness as high-tech ceramic cases of other colors and exhibits excellent properties such as toughness, lightness, and hypoallergenicity. If you seek to express individuality with an original design while demanding outstanding reliability, this watch is recommended.

Japan's First Release Model with 80-Hour Power Reserve

The essential value of a watch lies in the reliability of its movement and the robustness of its case. In this regard, watches from Rado featuring high-tech ceramic cases inherently possess significant value. The classic high-tech ceramic model, "True," is no exception.

The Rado "True" was, in fact, a model being prepared as a Japan-exclusive release, equipped with a movement boasting an 80-hour power reserve. Automatic movements that can run for over three days are increasingly favored by users, as they ensure the watch remains operational on Monday morning even if taken off over the weekend.

Models with such enhanced mechanical reliability have attracted the attention of buyers worldwide, leading to its initial release in Japan and subsequent global rollout. This new "True" possesses the capabilities to match such high acclaim.
