Announcing Smartwatch Development with Google and Intel
Upon visiting the TAG Heuer booth, the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO, set to challenge Le Mans, was displayed at the entrance. TAG Heuer andNISMOformed a partnership in February 2015. They immediately showcased their collaboration at Baselworld. Furthermore, development of a collaboration model is reportedly underway.
The motorsports-related news doesn't end there. The partnership with F1 team McLaren also enters a milestone 30th year in '15. A commemorative model has appeared in the "TAG Heuer Formula 1" series, which expresses the world of F1 through watches. Additionally, the new in-house movement, Calibre Heuer 01, with its distinctly racing aesthetic, and new iterations of the "Monaco V4," driven by a belt system mimicking a car engine, were unveiled, electrifying the booth with a lineup rich in talking points.
In addition to these automotive-related models, TAG Heuer announced its development of a smartwatch in collaboration with Google and Intel. The brand's forward-thinking philosophy is now exploring a new category of timepieces. It is anticipated that a product will be released within the year. We eagerly await the announcement.
A Chronograph in Striking Red, Irresistible to F1 Fans
The "TAG Heuer Formula 1" is a chronograph distinguished by its striking red. In 1985, when the partnership between TAG Heuer and McLaren began, McLaren's cars were adorned in a distinctive, orangey "Rocket Red." This watch boldly incorporates that "Rocket Red" from 30 years ago on its aluminum bezel and NATO strap, serving as an homage to the McLaren cars of yesteryear.
The case back is engraved with the triumphant image of the "McLaren MP4," the championship machine that achieved both the Drivers' and Constructors' titles in the 1985 season. This model, a passionate and historically respectful take on a light and practical quartz chronograph, is a rare limited edition that F1 fans will surely want to acquire.

The New In-House Movement Finally Arrives
In recent years, TAG Heuer has expanded its manufacturing capabilities for new movements by establishing a new factory in the town of Chevenez, near La Chaux-de-Fonds. Calibre Heuer 01, born from this initiative, is an in-house developed caliber that represents an evolution from the previous Calibre 1887. It is a high-quality chronograph movement utilizing a column wheel for smooth operation, yet it features a simplified mechanism and a 50-hour power reserve.
The new case, constructed from 12 parts, offers excellent shock resistance. With openworking on both the case back and the dial, the movement's operation can be constantly admired, exuding a mechanical charm befitting its motorsports heritage. We look forward to future models equipped with this new movement, which excels in both its mechanism and its exterior.

The black case is crafted from carbon matrix composite, a specialized material formed by flowing carbon fiber into a dedicated mold in a specific direction, ensuring both lightness and durability.
The movement, visible through the see-through dial, features components and bridges treated with a titanium carbide coating. From the gradient from black to dark gray, to the red rubies accenting the movement, every detail exudes quality. Its sophisticated matte black finish lives up to the "Phantom" name.
