Introducing the Portugieser 75th Anniversary Models
IWC's iconic "Portugieser" collection celebrates its 75th anniversary. Originally created to meet a Portuguese merchant's demand for a wristwatch with the precision of a marine chronometer, the Portugieser has since given rise to numerous masterpieces. This year marks a significant milestone with its 75th anniversary. The Portugieser collection has been largely revamped, with some of these new releases already featured on OPENERS.Portugieser Annual CalendarBeyond the "Portugieser Annual Calendar," a captivating new range of Portugieser timepieces has been unveiled, including 75th-anniversary models and new, essential automatic models. Portugieser Automatic
A New Long Power Reserve Model
The "Portugieser Automatic" has long been recognized as a high-caliber basic model, featuring a seven-day power reserve. The newly introduced model is equipped with the newly developed Cal.52010 movement. Its most significant enhancement lies in the use of ceramic for key components of IWC's proprietary Pellaton automatic winding system, including the winding pawls, gears, and rotor bearings, resulting in significantly improved wear resistance.
The mainspring, crucial for the extended power reserve, is housed in two barrels, and the balance wheel's frequency has been increased to 28,800 vibrations per hour. With its enhanced reliability and precision, the "Portugieser Automatic," now featuring an upgraded movement from the previous Cal.50000 series, stands as an even more dependable everyday timepiece.

Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph
Achieving a More Compact Case Size
This chronograph, a fusion of the 1930s "Portugieser" and the legendary 1970s sports model "Yacht Club," retains its functionality while reducing its case size from 45.4mm to 43.5mm.
The ergonomically designed case remains, featuring long, sleek lugs and a rubber strap for exceptional comfort. Functionally, it is powered by the advanced and refined Cal.89361 movement, which incorporates a flyback function and a coaxial display for the 12-hour and 60-minute counters at the 12 o'clock position. This chronograph has steadily evolved.

Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Digital Date/Month "75th Anniversary"
Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Digital Date/Month "75th Anniversary"
A Perpetual Calendar with Digital Display
To commemorate the significant milestone of the "Portugieser's" anniversary, a special limited edition model has been introduced. IWC, with the contribution of its advisor Kurt Klaus, played a pivotal role in the revival of mechanical watchmaking through its perpetual calendar with a four-digit year display. This model, celebrating the 75th anniversary, inherits that spirit through its signature complication.
The windows at the 2 and 10 o'clock positions display the month and date, respectively, using a digital format with two jumping discs for each two-digit number. As the name "Perpetual Calendar" implies, no date adjustment is required until the year 2100. This intricate mechanism is complemented by a flyback chronograph with a coaxial display for the 12-hour and 60-minute counters. This is a rare timepiece, with a strictly limited production.
Case: Platinum
Diameter: 45mm
Thickness: 16.5mm
Movement: Automatic (Cal.89801)
Functions: Perpetual calendar (month & date display via two jumping discs, leap year indicator), Chronograph (with flyback function, coaxial 12-hour and 60-minute counters)

Estimated retail price (incl. tax): ¥6,096,600
Portugieser Hand-Wound Eight Days "75th Anniversary"
Carrying Forward the Original Aesthetic
Another limited edition model to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the "Portugieser" is also available. This is the hand-wound model with an eight-day power reserve. Its functions are straightforward, featuring central hour and minute hands, and a small seconds and date display at the 6 o'clock position.
The dial design is a contemporary interpretation of the original "Portugieser" produced in the 1930s. Arabic numeral indices are encircled by a subtle ring, echoing the aesthetic of that era. The remaining power reserve, extending to eight days, can be monitored via the power reserve indicator on the bridge of the traditionally decorated movement. Its classical style exudes a distinct vintage charm.
