Survival Gear Etched with an Iconic Image

Panerai has supplied watches as equipment for the Italian Navy.

The "Panerai Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech™ - 47mm," a professional diver's watch paying homage to the partnership between Panerai and the Italian Navy, was presented at SIHH 2019.

Key features include the robust yet lightweight Carbotech™ case and the fully in-house automatic P.9010 caliber, developed and manufactured at the Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel.

Carbotech™ is a composite material introduced by Panerai to the world of haute horlogerie. By compressing multiple thin layers of carbon fiber under high pressure with a polymer at a controlled temperature, it achieves properties lighter than titanium and stronger than stainless steel. This layered structure creates a unique camouflage pattern, lending the watch its military character.

The P.9010 caliber is an automatic movement offering a 72-hour power reserve. The energy required for this power reserve is stored in twin barrels, wound by a bidirectional rotating rotor. The balance wheel is secured by a two-arm bridge and oscillates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). A device stops the balance wheel when the crown is pulled out, allowing for precise synchronization with a time signal. Additionally, a function to move the hour hand backward in one-hour increments enables easy time difference adjustment without affecting the minute hand.

The case back features an engraving inspired by a motif from the Italian Navy commander.
