A Special Model Adorned with a Vivid Mosaic of Light

The "Freak X Marquetry," a new version of Ulysse Nardin's "Freak X" collection announced at SIHH 2019, features exquisite marquetry crafted from silicium wafers. Silicium, being brittle, requires skilled artisans to meticulously assemble approximately 120 wafers of varying sizes and colors, resulting in a breathtaking mosaic dial.




Available in two variations, one with a blue-toned case and a gold-plated "X," and another with a purple-blue background and a silver "X," both are finished to reflect light with unparalleled brilliance.

A key feature is the addition of a winding crown for time setting, replacing the bezel-based mechanism, enhancing usability. The central bridge functions as the minute hand, while a wheel completes one rotation per hour, serving as the hour hand.

One of the most significant technical innovations in the Freak collection is the visibly apparent escapement mechanism, made possible by an ultra-lightweight silicium balance wheel with flyweights and nickel-stabilized micro-blades. Inheriting these technologies, the movement is now equipped with the new in-house UN-230 caliber, and the case, with its beautifully rounded lines forming a perfect circle, marks a departure from previous collections, transforming it into a truly unique model.
