The New Ingenieur Collection is Born

IWC boldly renews its collections to match the times. This year, the Ingenieur, born in 1955 as "the wristwatch for engineers," has undergone a complete overhaul. This is the first full model change in eight years, since 2005.

The new Ingenieur is positioned as a driver's watch and racing watch for car enthusiasts. IWC has long had a cooperative relationship with AMG, Mercedes-Benz's high-performance car and racing division. For this renewal, the company has newly established a three-year official partnership with Mercedes' F1 team, "Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1."Mercedes-BenzFor this renewal, the company has newly established a three-year official partnership with Mercedes' F1 team, "Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1."

At the SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) booth, to promote this relationship, the 1955 F1 machine "300SLR Silver Arrow," which was active in 1955, along with the team's latest F1 machine and its engine, were exhibited from the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The new Ingenieur collection is composed of three design lines: "RACING," "HERITAGE," and "TECHNOLOGY," much like the exhibited F1 machines.

Among the timepieces drawing attention are two models: one with an stainless steel case that inherits the design codes of previous Ingenieur models, and a sports model using innovative materials found in modern F1 machines. What's pleasing is that across the entire collection, there is a wide variety of models available, from complicated timepieces to simplechronographsplit-seconds chronographs, world timers, and simple three-hand models. Therefore, you are sure to find a model that matches your desired functions and taste.

Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance |
Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance

Case採用 derived from F1 car's carbon fiber monocoque

The Ingenieur SL, a masterpiece created in 1976 by the genius of 20th-century watch design, Gérald Genta, is the inspiration for the new Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance. While inheriting its basic design, the outer case of the new Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance is made of carbon fiber, the same material used for the monocoque chassis of the "Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1" team's F1 cars. It features a three-layer structure formed by impregnating epoxy resin, sintering under high temperature and pressure, and then hardening. The dial is also made of carbon fiber. Two versions are available: one with yellow indices and one with red indices. Each is a limited production of 100 pieces, for a total of 200 pieces worldwide.

Automatic winding, carbon case, rubber strap with fabric inlay, case diameter 46mm, equipped with Calibre 80110 featuring IWC's patented Pellaton automatic winding system and an integrated shock absorption system, date display, 12 bar water resistance, 2,231,250 yen.
