The Beautiful Fusion of Resonance and Guilloché Displayed on the Dial
The "Mirrored Force Resonance" is acclaimed as Armin Strom's most innovative creation. Following the first model in a rose gold case, came the stainless steel case version, and now, the "Mirrored Force Resonance Guilloché Dial Version" is introduced, featuring a guilloché dial.
"Resonance" is a word meaning sympathetic vibration. Resonance is a physical phenomenon where "two adjacent vibrating bodies influence each other and eventually resonate." The "Mirrored Force Resonance" incorporates this resonance into a timepiece.
The greatest benefit of resonance is improved accuracy through operational stability. Historically, only a very select few exceptional watchmakers, such as Antide Janvier (1751-1855), Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823), and in modern times, François-Paul Journe, have developed movements with resonance mechanisms. This indicates the extreme difficulty in implementing resonance.
At Armin Strom, the development team led by the company's Technical Director spent two and a half years completing the resonance mechanism. Its presence can be observed in the twin displays for seconds located at the 7 and 11 o'clock positions.
This time, a guilloché dial model emerges as a new icon. For the creation of this guilloché, assistance was sought from the distinguished watchmaker Kari Voutilainen, whose workshop is based in Môtiers, Switzerland.
This dial is produced using a lathe from approximately 100 years ago, located in his workshop. However, a lathe can only be controlled manually. The intricate patterns, achieved by engraving the metal disc with extreme precision and utmost care, convey the high artistry of the craftsman.
While the blue model is showcased in the images, it can also be ordered in black, anthracite, red, or as a bicolor option. Regarding the texture, choices include sunray, concentric waves, or barleycorn.
