A Mere 5mm Case Thickness!

Introducing the World's Thinnest High-Tech Ceramic Watch

Since its founding in 1957, Rado has been at the forefront of the Swiss watch industry, driving material and design revolutions to create beautiful timepieces that challenge conventional notions of watches. This year, they have once again astonished the world with a model crafted from their signature high-tech ceramic material.

A New Chapter in a History of Innovation!

Starting with the 1960s "Rado DiaStar," which featured a case made of tungsten carbide, a beautiful and scratch-resistant super-hard metal alloy, the Swiss watch brand Rado has consistently led material and design revolutions in timepieces. The introduction of the now highly popular high-tech ceramic material dates back a quarter of a century to the 1986 "Rado Integral." Furthermore, in 2004, they released the "Rado V10K," the world's hardest watch, finished with a high-tech diamond coating.

This year, 2011, marks the arrival of another groundbreaking model in Rado's history. The "Rado True Thinline" achieves a case thickness of just 5mm (even thinner at 4.95mm for ladies' models) using high-tech ceramic and an ultra-thin movement.

Lightweight Comfort and Delicate, Beautiful Design

Upon holding and wearing it, one is struck by the beauty of its design, which seamlessly integrates flowing curves from the case back to the rubber strap, despite its ultra-thin profile. Naturally, the wearing comfort is exceptionally light and pleasant. To achieve this ultra-thin form, Rado, with the cooperation of ETA, a specialized movement manufacturer within the Swatch Group, developed an ultra-thin quartz movement measuring just 1mm in thickness. Furthermore, they re-examined the design and manufacturing processes from scratch to ensure perfect harmony among all components.

It's not just the technology that is remarkable. The minimalist design, stripped of all superfluous elements to complement this groundbreaking thinness, also deserves the highest praise. In the past two to three years, perhaps as a reaction to the "oversized and thick" trend that dominated the watch industry for over a decade, particularly in sports watches, there has been a notable resurgence of ultra-thin, simple watches within the classic lines of luxury mechanical brands. However, these typically start at 500,000 yen, with models exceeding 1 million yen not being uncommon.

The Rado True Thinline, priced in the accessible 100,000 yen range, offers a unique presence comparable to luxury watches, thanks to its cool yet delicate material feel and sharp, beautiful form. Additionally, while the case thickness increases slightly to 7.8mm, automatic models and versions with diamonds set on the dial are also available.

This is one of the new watches that we highly recommend discerning individuals of any gender pay close attention to this year. For those who desire a touch more sparkle on the dial, the diamond model is recommended.
