Swiss-Made Watches Gaining Attention from U.S. Navy SEALs

Watches That Continue to Glow in the Dark

Luminox gained recognition after developing timepieces at the request of the U.S. Navy SEALs in 1993. This year at Baselworld, four 25th-anniversary special models from the Navy SEALs Colormark Series were unveiled to commemorate Luminox's 25th anniversary. Additionally, the ANU Series, developed, tested, and approved at the request of the U.S. Navy last year, will see the release of a chronograph.

25 Years of Luminox Light Technology

Twenty-five years ago, the U.S. Navy SEALs took notice of Luminox as a watch that "guarantees absolute visibility under any circumstances." Many were impressed by its ability to self-illuminate for 25 years, day or night, without needing to press a button, thanks to micro gas tubes filled with tritium gas.

The new models announced this time are special editions created for Luminox's 25th anniversary. Upon closer inspection of the dial, one can see it is printed with two types of "25" in small Arabic and Roman numerals. The case is made of lightweight and durable PC carbon.

The combination of specifications that meet the demands of elite U.S. forces, reliable Swiss manufacturing, and an accessible price point may be the secret behind this military watch's 25 years of support.

The Second ANU Series Features a Split-Second Chronograph

ANU, the name of the new series, is an acronym for "Authorized for Navy Use," signifying items approved by the Navy. From this ANU Series, a chronograph with a split-second function has been introduced.

This is a special chronograph with two stopwatch hands, allowing for the measurement of intermediate times (split times). It features a 1/10th second sub-dial and a 12-hour counter that can also function as a countdown timer. Naturally, visibility in the dark is ensured by Luminox Light Technology. The case back is engraved with the words "AUTHORIZED FOR NAVY USE" and the American bald eagle, the national bird of the United States.
