At the MIKIMOTO Ginza Main Store, until September 5, 2018, an exhibition titled "Feel the Pearl" is being held, offering a chance to experience the mystique of pearls from various perspectives, including the process of pearl formation and a display of seven high-jewelry pieces totaling 1.2 billion yen.

An Exhibition Focusing on the Beauty of Pearls from Multiple Angles

In 1893, Kokichi Mikimoto, the founder of MIKIMOTO, achieved the world's first cultured pearl. His wish, "to adorn women around the world with pearls," continues to be passed down, creating beautiful pearl jewelry that moves people's senses.

The "Feel the Pearl" exhibition, hosted by MIKIMOTO, allows visitors to experience the beauty of pearls from various viewpoints. A highlight is the display of 14 types of pearls and their mother-of-pearl shells, including Akoya and Black-lipped oysters that nurture pearls, as well as the Queen Conch that produces conch pearls. These pearls meet the standards of gemstones in terms of luster, size, and shape, and are rare specimens that only MIKIMOTO, the originator of pearl cultivation, could collect.

Visitors can also admire seven high-jewelry pieces adorned with colorful pearls and diamonds. In a mirror room with walls covered in mirrors, the high jewelry is endlessly reflected, creating an immersive experience as if stepping into an infinite world of jewels.

Furthermore, VR glasses offer a 360-degree view of Ago Bay in Mie Prefecture, where pearls are cultivated. Original movies are also screened, detailing the process from pearl cultivation to necklace creation, and the brand's history including founder Kokichi Mikimoto's invention of cultured pearls. We highly recommend visiting this valuable exhibition, where you can experience rare pearls from various angles, made possible by MIKIMOTO's 125-year pursuit of pearl beauty.
