Following the "Fifty Fathoms" military dive watch developed in 1953, this is Blancpain's diver series. The "Aqua Lung" was also a representative sports watch of Blancpain included within it.
Later, the Aqua Lung was redesigned in 1999 and incorporated into Blancpain's sports series, the "Leman" collection. It made a sophisticated reappearance, deliberately omitting the rotating bezel characteristic of the original model and clad in a satin-finished stainless steel case. Then, in 2005, as a commemorative model for Blancpain's 270th anniversary, the current "Leman Aqua Lung Large Date" appeared. By increasing the case size to a diameter of 40mm and equipping it with a "Large Date" at the 6 o'clock position, its practicality was significantly enhanced.
The Cal. 6950, boasting a 70-hour power reserve, can be admired through the see-through case back. The Geneva stripes decoration applied to the automatic winding rotor and bridges evokes the beautiful ripples of "Lake Leman," after which the collection is named. The strap is a sporty rubber type, but the stitching also lends it a refined atmosphere.
This is truly a masterpiece befitting Blancpain, the oldest watchmaker in Switzerland, embodying a fusion of sport and elegance.
