A Pocket Minute Repeater Commemorating 185 Years

While boasting a long history, celebrating its 185th anniversary this year, Baume & Mercier is also known for its modern, sophisticated designs. The brand offers refined models that can be cherished and enjoyed by everyone, from students buying their first luxury watch to adults. In Hong Kong, as in the previous year, 2014, a special model was unveiled to commemorate the Maison's history. This is a pocket watch with a minute repeater function, released from the "Clifton" collection to mark the 185th anniversary, housed in a gold case.

A Pocket Minute Repeater Commemorating 185 Years

The inspiration for this pocket watch comes from a minute repeater pocket watch that the Maison produced in the 19th century. The minute repeater function allows the watch to indicate the time by striking a chime with gongs: the hour is struck as many times as the hour hand indicates, and the minutes are indicated in 15-minute intervals and fractions thereof. The exterior of the front case maintains the modern look befitting the "Clifton" collection name.

Furthermore, turning the case over reveals a skeletonized movement through the see-through case back. The significantly larger movement, compared to a wristwatch, utilizes a module from the prestigious Dubois Dépraz, allowing for full appreciation of its intricate craftsmanship.

Included are a black calfskin strap for portability, a leather pouch to protect the main body when carried, and a soundboard to amplify the beautiful, delicate chime of the minute repeater.
