Baume & Mercier has unveiled the "Baume Skate Special Edition," a new creation from its "Baume" collection, born from a collaboration with French skateboarder Aurélien Giraud.

Baume & Mercier's "Baume" collection is dedicated to themes of ecology, upcycling, and contributing to a sustainable society. Its latest release, the "Baume Skate Special Edition," is a product of a collaboration with Aurélien Giraud, a leading French skateboarder.

This model is a special timepiece that combines a minimalist design with elements of street culture and unique design features. The 42mm case is crafted from upcycled skate decks used by Aurélien and surplus wood. Its periphery is encased in a blue anodized aluminum container to protect the movement from shocks and ensure water resistance.

The dial incorporates red and blue, Aurélien Giraud's favorite colors, creating a masculine yet stylish aesthetic. It also features a disc covered with grip tape, similar to that found on skateboards. This disc rotates once every 12 hours, with the "BAUME" logo acting as the hour hand, while a single hand indicates the minutes. This approach reflects the Baume collection's commitment to continuous innovation beyond traditional watchmaking.

The cotton strap is complemented by a red tag bearing Aurélien's initials and a black cork lining for a comfortable fit on the wrist. This strap can be easily exchanged using the interchangeable strap button system.

Aurélien Giraud commented on this collaboration: "The initial idea was to reuse my own used decks for the watch case. It's a truly wonderful new watch case! Using grip on the dial is also something I find very fresh and cool. It means both main materials of a skateboard are used in the watch. It feels like I'm walking around with a piece of my skateboard on my wrist."
