Exhibition "Light and Glass" by Light-Manipulating Designer Tokujin Yoshioka Held
From November 2nd (Thursday) to November 13th (Monday), the exhibition "Tokujin Yoshioka: Light and Glass" will be held at Gallery 3 of 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT in Akasaka, Tokyo.
Tokujin Yoshioka is a designer whose poetic and experimental works, often inspired by nature, traverse the realms of design, architecture, and contemporary art.
Yoshioka has consistently transcended the concept of form by giving shape to the full spectrum of human senses through intangible elements like light.
Focusing on glass as the material closest to expressing light, he delves into the essence of his work by reflecting a uniquely Japanese sensibility towards nature that exists within our senses.
This exhibition will feature his representative work, the glass bench "Water Block," along with video presentations of his architectural projects "Tea House - Kōan" and "Rainbow Church." New works on display include "Glass Clock," created from a solid block of glass, "Prism," presented as part of the Dom Pérignon Art Project, and models of his rainbow architecture.
This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of light created through glass by Tokujin Yoshioka.
